Up And Down Lifts

What we doLift installation from the empty shaft to the finished lift

Up And Down Lifts is a specialist lift installation contractor. We install new passenger and goods lifts for lift manufacturers across London and the South East, in new-build projects and existing buildings.

  1. 1

    Survey and set-out

Every shaft is surveyed against the lift drawings before work starts, and any differences are raised early, so they are solved before installation rather than during it.

  2. 2

    Safe, quality-checked installation

Our engineers follow safe systems of work: a risk assessment and method statement for every job, daily pre-start checks and the right access for each stage. Each lift is installed to the manufacturer's instructions, with quality checks tracked at every stage.

  3. 3

    Ready for test and handover

Lifts are handed over complete, clean and ready for testing and commissioning, backed by a digital record of the installation, so testing runs smoothly and sign-off is quick.

The lifts we install

  • Passenger lifts: high-capacity passenger groups and single units for offices, hotels and homes
  • Goods lifts: heavy-duty goods and service lift installations
  • MRL traction lifts: energy-efficient machine-room-less systems for residential and office buildings
  • Firefighting and evacuation lifts: BS EN 81-72 compliant life-safety lift installations
  • Through-car lifts: dual-door configurations with openings on two sides of the car

Retrofits: new lifts in existing buildings

Not every lift goes into a new building. We also install new lifts in refurbishments and conversions, where tight shafts, restricted access, working hours and existing structures all need more careful planning. A full survey before we start shows up shafts that are out of plumb or out of square, so they can be dealt with in the set-out and agreed with the builder, not discovered halfway up the shaft.
